There is talk in the search engine optimisation community that having two way links, particularly to irrelevant sites can damage your standings in the search engines. Therefore, articles are perhaps more important than ever because they create one way links which makes your site look much more important to the search engines. Boosting your sales with articles starts with you writing the article. When writing the article there are a few key points you ought to keep in the forefront of your mind:
1) Quality – one aim of the article if to establish you as an expert, so make sure the article is high quality and demonstrates this
2) Interest – make the article grab the readers attention and want them to read the rest of your article; make it lively and entertaining
3) Paint a picture – use your words to paint a picture in your readers minds –make them see and feel what you are telling them
4) Desire – use your words to create desire in your readers so they click your link and buy your product

This four step formula will really help to boost your sales as people read your articles and click through to your sites. The next step is to submit the article to article directories. Now you can do this manually if you like, though it is likely to be a slow and painful process. Your other options are to use some form of article submission software or to hire someone to do it for you. Whichever method you choose, the submission of the articles will create you one way links to your website. It also means that website and newsletter owners can see your articles and pick them up as content to use. This, of course, gives you exposure to a whole new potential customer base and again, will boost your sales.

And of course, you can use the articles on your own website as content. This provides you with fresh content for your website (which the search engines love), and establishes you as an authority because you have written articles. You may even want to use them as blog entries if you would like.

Finally, you can submit your articles to offline publications for consideration. Having an article printed in a newspaper or magazine will really help to establish your credibility and drive traffic to your website. You may even get paid for the article, but if you don’t then the free exposure is well worth the lack of payment.

Having well written, high quality articles that make your readers want to find out more will help to boost your sales and establish you as an expert in your field.

5 Things To Consider When Publishing A Newsletter, from 4 Marketing Now

Providing a newsletter for your opt-in list subscribers provides many benefits in terms of driving traffic into your site as well as boosting the sales and profits of your site and company. This is a marketing ploy that will not hugely dent your marketing budget and will not also require many man-hours in developing this project.

With a newsletter, you can inform the public about your company and products as well as services. You can keep them posted and updated about what’s going-on with your company as well as many of your promotions and offerings. With these, you keep on reminding your subscribers that you are still here and is willing to offer them good deals and services.

Newsletters also allow you to impress your subscribers. It can show your expertise and knowledge about the topic at hand and the many benefits you can offer them. When you impress people, they will become potential customers and another great thing is that they can recommend you to their friends, colleagues and family. All of them could very well be customers in the future.

If you do not have a newsletter or publishing one for your site, then you may have to consider about researching and be well informed on how to publish one. It is not as easy as it seems but if and when you get the right idea and process, it will be smooth sailing from there on. Try to take the time to learn what you need to learn and get that newsletter ready and good to attract subscribers to your newsletter as well as traffic to your site.

In the next few paragraphs, I will provide you with some things to reflect on when you decide to start your own newsletter for your site. Here are five things to consider when publishing a newsletter.
1) Make sure that the content of your newsletter pertains to and closely associated with your business or the theme of your site. Do not dwell too far on what could be regarded as your field of expertise. You have started a site and your theme for your site will always be something you are knowledgeable about. For example; if you have a site that sells auto car parts, your newsletter must contain articles or content like photos that pertain to cars, auto parts and such. You may also include content about your company and your staff. Remember that visitors of a certain site are there because they are interested in what the site has to offer. If they sign up for an opt-in list or for a newsletter this means that they want to be updated for that certain theme or subject. Be sure that when you publish your newsletter you are providing for the need of the subscriber as well as their interests.
2) Ensure that you have well written, information riddled and content rich articles. Your articles will be the body of your newsletter and that they should be able to excite your readers as well as provide information. Articles should be well written and checked for errors such as spelling and grammatical errors for it to look professional and believable. The trust of your client to you and newsletter is at stake here.
3) Fact-check your articles. Make sure that you provide true facts and figures so that your reputation as an expert and knowledgeable in that field is not questioned. If you lose the trust of your subscribers these may persuade them to unsubscribe to your newsletter. You will lose many potential sales this way.
4) Provide fresh and new articles that can provide new information to your subscribers. If you publish stale and old news in your newsletter, there is a tendency that people or your subscribers already have read and known about them. This will lose their interest in your newsletter and they wont get to read what is most important, your ads. They may not open or read any of your succeeding newsletters losing your intention in writing and publishing newsletters, to get them to visit your site and make a purchase.
5) Never use copyrighted materials such as photos and articles. This is outright plagiarism, you may get into a lot of trouble for this. You can lose your business and get sued over copyright infringement. If you do not have the time to write your own articles, there are many willing and able professional article writers that can do it for you for a reasonable fee. All your investment in writing and publishing articles will be well worth it when you see your list build up and your traffic increasing.

You see, the way your article "appears" makes a big difference to whether it is glanced at, scanned quickly, or read thoroughly by your subscribers.

An eye-pleasing presentation will make a HUGE difference! So here are a few tips for formatting your articles properly. As you read this, you'll be aware that I'm using HTML format to present you with a nice-looking page, but most email marketers use simple text. Indeed, I still do so myself for my "mass-market" subscribers ... (my "A-to-Z Newsletter" only goes out to a select 10 000+ subscribers, of which you are one). So let's just concentrate on formatting for simple text messages.

First and most important is the W-I-D-T-H of your page. Ask yourself why it is that ALL newspapers and magaazines build their pages with columns that generally don't exceed about 3½" (9cm). The reason is simple... after 3½" the eye begins to "wander". It is more difficult to follow the line without straying elsewhere. In fact, for people with any form of mild dyslexia, long lines are a total nightmare. Now I can understand you asking yourself why it is that this very page you're reading is more than the recommended... and that's because I can easily change my formatting to catch your eye and keeep you focused. In a simple text email, you cannot do this, so you have to retain your reader's interest in a different way... by using a narrow "column" of text.

In fact, I've become so used to doing this that I now write ALL my emails this way. The quick and easy way is to write your email broadcast in simple text (using Notepad or similar) and then paste it into your email or autoresponder when it's complete. Start off by placing a "ruler" in the text and then type above the "ruler" so you know when to press your "Return" key. I always use 50 characters per line as a maximum (though I occasionally stray beyond that by a letter or two).

Here's how it looks in the text file...

Welcome to another bulletin from your favorite newsletter and, hopefully, your favorite marketing expert. This week, I want to talk to you about formatting your emails to make sure they get read by your subscribers.

I think you'd have to admit that it's pretty easy on the eye. (But don't forget to remove the "ruler" before you send it out) But there's also another reason for keeping your lines short, and that's because some email clients will automatically "cut" your text at 60 characters and begin a new line, no matter what. That can lead to some lousy-looking formatting problems like one word on one line in the middle of a paragraph (ever wonder why that happened? - Now you know!) By pre-typing your lines at 50-55 characters, you overcome all of these problems straight away.

After WIDTH, the next most important aspect of formatting is L-E-N-G-T-H. Here, I'm referring to the length of your sentences and your paragraphs (not necessarily the length of your email). You should keep sentences short. You're not writing something of high literary endeavor - you're writing a marketing pitch. You need to appeal to ALL readers, not just the hibrow ones! So keep 'em short. Paragraphs, too! Like this one. Or this! See what I mean? And finally, a couple of "quickie" tips....

Don't use strings of characters like ----- or ***** in your article to set information apart. This can throw the formatting out and even make the page unreadable in some email clients.

Don't use all CAPS. Using all capital letters in your title or within the body of your article is unprofessional and will attract the unwanted attention of the spam filters. Take a little time over your formatting and your emails will look better and be received better by your readers. Give them what they want - quality information in a way that makes it easy for them to act.
